Went to the esplanade today...
Heard this AWESOME band...
Batu Kadar was their name...
Apparently they were the opening act for the Black Eyed Peas...
Singapore based...
Made up of Malays, Chinese and Caucasians...
Man, they rocked...
I was itching for them to start...
They were sooooooo good...
1st they teased the crowd by playing snippets of their song...
It attracted more people...
Heh...
Smart...
Then they played...
And man did they play...
God...the songs they performed...
And the show they put on...
Fast paced, catchy, and it made you feel like dancing...
And when I say fast, I mean FAST...
I've never felt so alive...
It was so feelgood-ish...
Their songs were instrumental...
Wouldn't call it pop-ish...
But more of a Brazilian feel...
More to percussion...
I loved the cow bells the most...
Very perky...
The band had great chemistry among them...
They could laff and make jokes in between short breaks...
I wonder what being in a band like that would be like...
It'd be so COOL...
I've got so much to say...
Thoughts are running a mile a minute...
Then one of them was a fire dancer...
Very HOT!!
Hehe...
And after his performance he said "don't try this at home"...
Kehehe...
There was this guy who reminded me of...
Fadhil...or Malique from Too Phat...
Very the over...
Jumping here and there and pumping his fist to the beat...
With curly hair...
Maybe it was the whole mood of the moment...
It had a Brazilian festival feel to it...
Oh man...
I was like...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!
I wanted to shake my tushie like it has never shaken before...
But I had to settle to bobbing my head...
THEY KICKED ASS!!
Punk or rock or jazz or whatnot...
Will never live up to this band...
The audience absolutely ADORED them...
And they too connected with the audience...
They were really inventive...
Making squeaking sounds with their drums...
I dunnoe how to explain this...
I was grinning like a Cheshire cat...
No make it like a FOOL...
From the start till the end...
Oh man...did it rock...
I think those guys are hip-hoppers...
I dunnoe...looked like it...
Funky people...
They looked so happy playing...
I would too if I were them...
And they were also grooving to their own beat...
I'm so envious right now...
They really know how to psyche the audience...
We just kept wanting more of them...
There was this member who dragged up a Caucasian girl to dance...
She danced alright...
Got lots of wolf-whistles and cheers...
Of course they didn’t receive scattered applause...
Practically got a standing ovation for every song they played...
I clapped wildly till my palms were red, hurting and quite sore...
They were DOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I was HOOKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TO THE MAX!!!!!!!!
We were told by them that they were playing their last song...
And everyone was like DAMN!
And this baby started crying...
Heh...
Anyways...
We all took it in like they were NEVER gonna play again...
Then this guy asked the umm... stage manager (?)
Whether they could play another song...
It received cheers from the crowd...
So of course they were given the go ahead...
YEAH!!!!!!!
And this guy said "I really think you guys should dance to this...…
It's our last performance"... (of the night? of the day? I really dunno...) ...
And he got most of the crowd on their feet...
If only I could let loose and dance...
But my family was there...
So had to content myself to only bobbing my head again...
And all these SINGAPOREANS (believe it or not) began to dance...
Most of them were teens though...
And they did all these hip-hop moves...
Nice...
Missed the chance to dance...
Boy, if I could dance...
It was a great ending for a truly SPECTACULAR performance...
Cant remember any of their songs...
Because I accepted them whole-heartedly...
I knew they we gonna be great...
And when that happens I dont remember the song...
It was just so DIFFERENT...
So UNIQUE...
And it just washed over me...
I just went, enjoyed and loved it...
Kinda regret that I forgot their songs...
Kinda guilty too...
Man...
I hope they’re gonna be HUMONGOUS in Singapore...
Get a record label...
Make a CD...
Id be the 1st to get it...

For those of you who are interested in listening to them...
They play at the Esplanade every Thursday and Saturday...
I dunno how long they are gonna be playing there but just drop by these two days yeah...?
Im not too sure what time their earliest show starts...
But its in the evening...7-ish maybe...?
But their last show is at 9.30pm...
And its not IN the Esplanade theatres...
Its in the courtyard...
Or rather...behind the Esplanade...but still in its grounds...
Oh yeah...this is important...
ITS FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
